Dr. Donald P. Mogck

DR. DONALD PAUL MOGCK was born on January 30, 1930 to Paul and Martha (Grosz) Mogck on a farm outside of Olivet, South Dakota where he was raised. He worked on the family farm and attended Scotland High School where he graduated in 1948. He then attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion until 1951. On October 1, 1951 Don was united in marriage to Betty Ekholm at the Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Don enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1951 and completed his basic training in Lubbock, Texas. He was stationed at Selma Air Force Base and served during the Korean War, achieving the rank of staff sergeant while working in the finance office. Following his honorable discharge he returned home. Don then attended NW Chiropractic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he completed the four year degree in just three years and graduated in 1957 as class valedictorian. Don purchased and opened his own practice on October 7, 1957 in Luverne, Minnesota. The family made their home on North Cedar Street for most of their life in Luverne. Don operated his practice until his retirement 34 years later in 1991. Betty preceded him in death on February 26, 1991. Don continued to reside in their home until 2012 when he became a resident at the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne.

On Sunday, April 19, 2015 Don died peacefully at the Sanford Luverne Hospital at the age of 85 years, two months and 20 days.

Don was a member of the Minnesota Chiropractic Association and the Elks. He enjoyed gardening, pheasant hunting, marksmanship, playing golf, cards and games. He was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and also enjoyed movies and snowmobiling.

Don is lovingly remembered by his three children, Danny (Dede) Mogck of Sioux Falls, Bonnie (James) Wickham of Lee, Massachusetts, and Dean Mogck of Luverne; four grandchildren, Allissa Wickham, Nathan Wickham, Jordan Mogck and Leah Mogck; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; parents, Paul and Martha Mogck; and brother, Stanley Mogck.
