Dwayne E. Eisfeld

December 8, 1944 — October 17, 2019

DWAYNE EDWARD EISFELD was born on December 8, 1944, in Tyler, Minnesota to Herman and Annetta (VanEck) Eisfeld. He lived his early years on the farm in Murray County. He attended country schools, District 45 and 20 and graduated from Balaton High School in 1962. Dwayne went on to further his education and received a degree in Agriculture Education from South Dakota State University in 1969. On June 7, 1969, Dwayne was united in marriage to Mary Brink in Slayton, Minnesota and the couple made their home in Hills, Minnesota, where he taught High School Vocational Agriculture/FFA. In 1974, they moved to Pipestone where Dwayne taught the Veterans Ag Program. They moved to a farm in Murray County in 1976 and he continued to teach at the Vocational School in Pipestone. Dwayne was instrumental in starting the Apprenticeship Farming Program there. Later, he taught Adult Farm Management in the Slayton and Pipestone areas. After 27 years of teaching, Dwayne retired in 1996. He continued with hands on farming. In 2013, Dwayne and Mary moved to Balaton, Minnesota. In July of 2019, they relocated to Marshall, Minnesota. Dwayne died peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 74 years, 10 months and nine days.

Dwayne was a member of Skandia Evangelical Free Church in Balaton and served as an elder and Sunday School teacher as well as a chairman of the board. He was a very hard worker throughout his entire life. Taking care of the land was important to him; he respected what was best for the land and was involved with farming and agriculture his entire life. Dwayne also enjoyed working on various welding projects. His sense of humor will surely be missed.

Dwayne is remembered by his wife, Mary of Marshall; children, Angela (Neil) Witte of Tyler, Leah (Brady) Hunter of Riceville, Iowa, Mark (Sara) Eisfeld of Fulda, Minnesota, and Janet (John) Caven of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; grandchildren, Madison and Caleb Witte, David, Josiah, and Micah Hunter, Priya, Samuel, Anneka, Ellie, and Ruby Eisfeld, and Luke, Amelia, Anna, and Faith Caven; sister, Marie (Jerry) Kloos of Minneota, Minnesota; niece, Jennifer Farysyn; and nephew Brian Kloos. He was preceded in death by his parents.
