Edward C. Wussow

July 3, 1929 — August 18, 2013

EDWARD C. WUSSOW was born to Carl William and Hazel Ruth (Baker) Wussow on July 3, 1929 on a farm in Pipestone County, Minnesota where he was raised and attended country school. After he completed the eighth grade, he moved with his parents to Wadena, Minnesota and attended high school there. Upon completion of his education, he worked as a lineman for the REA in Wadena. In November, 1948, he entered the United States Army and served as a radio operator in Texas during the Korean War. After his discharge from the service in 1952, he moved to Elkton, South Dakota and worked for his uncle on the farm. In 1953, he moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he worked for the Coca Cola Company. On September 17, 1955, he was united in marriage to Janice LaVonne Mundahl at Elkton. Following their marriage, they lived and worked in Sioux Falls. In 1957 they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota and Eddie became employed with the REA. He continued to work for them for 33 years until his retirement in 1991. He then mowed part-time for the City of Pipestone and cared for the grounds at the cemetery. Eddie and Jan enjoyed their retirement years taking trips with the First National Bank Heritage Club. He often would spend as much time as he was able with his grandchildren and enjoyed helping them with their paper routes. In October 2008, Eddie became a resident at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where on Sunday, August 18, 2013 he died peacefully at the age of 84 years, one month and 15 days.

Eddie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone where he served as both an elder and a deacon. He was also a member of the Michael Boock American Legion Post 6 in Pipestone. He enjoyed bowling and dancing - especially dancing with his wife, Janie. Eddie sincerely loved serving others and he always put others first.
