In honoring Ed's wishes, no public service will be held.

EDWARD LEE SCARLETT was born on February 21, 1947 to John and Edna (Holladay) Scarlett in Adair, Iowa. He was raised on a farm near Anita, Iowa where he attended school, graduating from CAM High School in 1965. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1966 and served during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he continued to pursue his education. He attended Michigan Tech in Houghton, Michigan and then the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. On September 6, 1969 he was united in marriage to Ann Keranen at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Atlantic Mine, Michigan. The couple moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he attended the University of Minnesota. His studies focused on mechanical engineering. Ed began a job drafting for rural elevators which required him to move around quite a bit. The couple moved to Pipestone, Minnesota for five years, then nearby Edgerton, Minnesota where he took a job at Fey Industries. Ed then worked in Steel Fabrication at Hills Stainless Steel in Luverne, Minnesota. The couple moved to Hardwick, Minnesota where they made their home for over 30 years. He retired in 2013 due to his health and they moved to the Centennial Apartment in Luverne a couple years later. He became a resident of the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne on December 13, 2018 and on June 15, 2019 he died peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 24 days.

Ed was very religious and a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was a quiet man who enjoyed living a simple life. He had a calming presence about him. He enjoyed reading, computers, fishing, cross county and downhill skiing. He loved to read stories to his children when they were young. He also enjoyed nature, whether that be sitting outside his home and taking in his surroundings or heading out to the state park.

Ed is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ann; children, Lisa (Wade) Scarlett-Steeneck of Beresford, South Dakota and Susan (Scarlett) Rogers of Hardwick, MN; grandchildren, Laura Steeneck and Nicholas and Matthew Rogers; siblings, Norma (Errol) Scarlett-Heckman of East Peru, Iowa, Harold Scarlett of Anita, Iowa, and Mildred Sparling of Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Lafe Scarlett, Helen Redburn, Fred, Jr. Scarlett and George Scarlett.
