Edwin "Ed" Arnold Texley

November 9, 1931 — July 1, 2018

Edwin Arnold Texley was born to Louis Oscar and Hilda (Casberg) Texley on November 9, 1931 on a farm near Toronto, South Dakota where he was raised. He attended country school through the third grade, and then he attended school in Toronto. Upon completion of his education, he worked as a farm laborer until he became employed by the Brookings County Highway Department. On October 15, 1951, he married Ardith Krenz at the Lutheran parsonage in Lake Benton, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived in Brookings and Ed continued to work for the highway department. In 1955, he began working in gravel construction for Johnson and Osby Construction Company. On July 7, 1958, they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota where Ed became employed by Fecker Produce. He continued working there until 1961 when he began working at Dar’s Texaco. Then, in 1965, he became employed at the Peavey Elevator; and in 1982, he began working for Pipestone Grain where he worked delivering feed to nearly everyone in the county (according to Ed) until his retirement in 1993. Ed moved to the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone on April 21, 2017. He passed away at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the age of 86 years seven months and 22 days.

Ed was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was currently a member of Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone. He was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol and the Pipestone Golden K Kiwanis Club. For many years, Ed played the electric guitar in a band called the “Country Gentlemen”. All of the members of this band played music by ear. Besides playing the guitar, he also played the banjo, the accordion, and the organ.

He is lovingly remembered by his five sons, Terry Texley and his wife Signe of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Tom Texley and his wife Sandy of San Antonio, Texas, Tim Texley and his wife Amy of Sebring, Florida, Todd Texley of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Tony Texley and his wife Kerry of Willmar, Minnesota; three grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and many other loving friends and family members.
