Obituary for Elden Reyelts
ELDEN CLAUS FREDERICK REYELTS was born on January 13, 1930 to John Heinrich and Christine Margaretha (Funck) Reyelts on the family farm in Beaver Creek Township, Rock County, Minnesota. He was baptized on February 16, 1930 at their home and confirmed on June 24, 1945 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. He attended first through 12th grade at Beaver Creek High School, graduating in 1947. He was deferred from the United States Draft one time in order to help his father during harvest season and was then drafted into the United States Army in December of 1953. He was honorably discharged and returned home to continue to farm on the family farm. He also attended Veterans Agriculture School while farming for a time. He continued to live on the family farm, until his retirement in 2015. He lived there until he entered the care of the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne on January 15, 2020. While there he received hospice care and passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the age of 90 years and one month.
Elden was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne where he enjoyed ushering and greeting people with a smile. In years past he was on the Beaver Creek Elevator Board and also the Beaver Creek Lumber Yard Board. He was also a Funk Seed Dealer for many years.
He is lovingly remembered by his two sisters, Florence Fick of Beaver Creek, Minnesota, and Lorna Hill of Jasper, Minnesota; special friend, Luella Loges of Boyden, Iowa; two nieces, Marilyn (John) Doppenberg and Connie (Chuck) Schuster; three nephews, Tom (Eldora) Hill, Jr., Allen (Chris) Fick, and Marlin (Amie) Fick. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister, Anna Dora Reyelts; brothers-in-law, Arthur Fick and Thomas Hill, Sr.; one niece, Laurita (David) Shelstad; one nephew, Cyril Hill; and special friend, Hilda Krug.
