Eloise B. Hauschild

March 25, 1932 — October 10, 2021

ELOISE BEATRICE HAUSCHILD was born March 25, 1932, to Floyd and Blanche (Sharp) Blegen in Tyler, MN. Eloise grew up in Arco, MN, and spent much of her time helping at her grandmother’s restaurant in Arco and hanging out with the kids in town. Throughout her childhood she was very close to her family. Eloise attended Ivanhoe Public High School, graduating in 1951. She met the love of her life, Carl Hauschild, at a local dance. They married on January 14, 1953, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco. A large snow storm made the event memorable as it left many stranded for days. Together, the couple made their home on a farm east of Ivanhoe, MN, in Limestone Township. The union was blessed with two daughters, Kaye and Joy. During her adult years, Eloise worked as a Telephone Operator and raised her family while helping on the farm. She was the Limestone Township Clerk for 34 years and, SWRDC, cleaned homes for several years, worked at an egg drying plant, and was involved in Bethany Lutheran Church activities, where she was a member her whole life. Eloise passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at the Avera Tyler Hospital in Tyler, MN at the age of 89 years, 6 months, and 16 days. She will forever be 16 years, or a "recycled teenager" as she liked to call herself.

In her free time, she enjoyed reading, attending plays at the Lake Benton Opera House, cross-stitching, hand quilting with her friends, and watching Hallmark Channel, old westerns, and musicals. Carl and Eloise loved dancing, being active in card clubs and visiting relatives and friends. Eloise loved nature and observing wildlife around her. Eloise considered God the most wonderful painter in the world and was devoted to admiring his creations, especially beautiful sunrises and sunsets. She loved watching the birds and deer in her yard. She also loved to predict the weather by observing her surroundings. For 22 years, Eloise and Carl spent their weekends camping and fishing at Pelican Lake in Ashby, MN.

Eloise was known for her love of visiting with people, telling stories, and discussing current events. She was a master at the “Minnesota goodbye.” She had a huge heart and always stood her ground. Eloise found happiness in the simplest pleasures of life and made the most of each moment presented to her. Eloise brought so much joy to those blessed to be in her life. She will be deeply missed by many.

Eloise is survived by her daughter, Joy (Clyde) Bruns of Marshall, Minnesota; grandchildren, Jennifer (Luke) Gregoire and Victoria (Parker) Freiss; great-grandchildren, Jared, Gavin, Connor Gregoire, and Paysen Freiss; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hauschild; daughter, Kaye Lokken; and parents, Floyd and Blanche Blegen.
