ELSIE WIESE was born to August and Alma (Bock) Gaudian on April 15, 1913 in O’Brien County, Iowa. When she was six months old, she moved with her parents to a farm north of Holland, Minnesota where she was raised and attended school. On January 9, 1932, Elsie was united in marriage to Walter Wiese at the First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived in Holland. In 1953, they moved to Pipestone and Elsie worked at Fecker’s Produce. Walter preceded her in death in 1981. After his death, she continued to reside at their home in Pipestone. On April 8, 2005, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where she died on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the age of 98 years, 8 months and 29 days.
Elsie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone. She was also an active member of the Pipestone Senior Citizens. She was an avid bowler and she enjoyed playing cards. When she was younger, she enjoyed playing kitten ball. She also enjoyed caring for flowers, both indoors and out in her garden. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, and quilting. She made each of her grandchildren a quilt.
She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters-in-law, Dorothy Wiese of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Carole Wiese of Worthington, Minnesota; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her two sons, LeRoy Wiese and Dale Wiese; one grandson, Edward “Eddie” Wiese; one great-granddaughter, Rylee Wiese; her parents; six brothers, Arthur, Edward, Ben, Emil, Elmer and Alfred “Kelly” Gaudian; two sisters, Ella Gaudian and Edna Fries; and one step-brother, Harry Garn.
