Esther Clara Rosina Bahn

October 21, 1913 — September 8, 2015

ESTHER CLARA ROSINA BAHN was given life by her creator and was born on October 21, 1913, the child of Leonard and Mathilda (Dierks) Busch on a farm near Fulda, Minnesota. On November 9, 1913, she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. On April 10, 1927, she publicly confessed her faith and was confirmed. She was raised on the farm and attended school in Fulda. Upon completion of her education, she helped on the farm. On September 21, 1938, she received the precious gift of a beloved companion in her spouse, William Bahn. Following their marriage, they lived on Bill’s family’s farm in Denver Township of Rock County, near Hardwick, Minnesota. She was blessed with the gift of children, Marlene, Elaine, Lorraine and JoAnn. They farmed in Denver Township until 1966 when they moved into Hardwick. While living in Hardwick, Esther became employed as the cook for the Hardwick school until the school closed. A short time later, she began working as the cook at the Green Lantern Restaurant in Hardwick. In 1992, her husband preceded her in death. In 1993, she moved to Jasper, Minnesota. In October, 2007, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone, Minnesota. Finally on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, God blessed Esther with a holy death and took her home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead.

While living near Hardwick, Minnesota, Esther was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Trosky, Minnesota and then Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick. When she moved to Jasper, she became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church there. She was also a member of the Golden Age Club in Jasper. She liked to play cards, especially pinochle and smear. She loved to sew and made quilts for all of her grandchildren. She also liked to embroider. In their younger years, Esther and William loved to go dancing.

She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Marlene Bauman and her husband Alvin of Jasper, Minnesota, Elaine Muller and her husband Ronald of Jasper, Minnesota, and JoAnn Current of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; ten grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Kenneth Busch and his wife Verna of Windsor, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Lorraine; two great-great-grandchildren, Bane and Leonidas Marquez; her parents; two brothers, George and Clarence Busch; and five sisters, Millie Fillman, Julia Koopman, Ida Reimer, Martha Gunderman, and Elsie Meier.
