Eulalia Bernadine (Clark) Koll, 94 . . .

was born to Jones and Josephine (Ziegler) Clark at McKennan Hospital in Sioux
Falls, SD on October 3, 1925. She was raised in rural Humboldt, SD attending St. Anne’s Catholic School. In the third grade, her family moved to the Salem-Spencer area of SD attending a country school for two years. She continued her education at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Epiphany, SD, and then Burbank Consolidated High School near Canova, SD. After her graduation in 1943, she moved to Sioux Falls, SD enrolling in the Berdahl Secretarial School and working part-time at the Woolworth Dime Store, then as a cashier at Sunshine Foods. On November 18, 1946, Eulalia was united in marriage to Darryl Koll in the chapel of St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls. Following their marriage, they resided in Sioux Falls. One year later, they moved to Rapid City, SD. In 1950, they moved to Alvord, IA where they owned and operated a hardware store known as Koll’s Modern Supply. Eulalia managed the store while Darryl took care of the plumbing and heating work. They sold this business in 1961 and moved to Worthington, MN. In 1962, they moved to Pipestone, MN where Eulalia sold Avon for ten years. They were members of St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. She joined Catholic Daughters of America in 1948 becoming a 72 year member. She was very active in the organization, serving as state treasurer from 1990 to 1994, state chairman of community from 1994 to 1998, and numerous other court offices in Pipestone. She was also active in Counsel of Catholic Women and served as parish president for a number of terms. She was Vice President and President of the Slayton area CCW from 1986 to 1990. Since 1962, Eulalia was a member of the Snappy Six Extension Club. She was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW auxiliaries. She loved caring for her family & home, cooking, baking, sewing, playing the piano & organ, & playing cards. February 2010, Darryl & Eulalia became residents of Ridgeview Estates in Pipestone, MN. October 2018, she moved to Primrose Retirement Community in Mankato MN where she passed away on April 8, 2020 at the age of 94 years, six months, and five days.

She is lovingly remembered by her two children, Joan Back (Tim) of Eagle Lake, MN, and David Kriesel-Koll (Pam) of Richfield, MN; five grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren, Travis Back and his son Gabriel, Melissa Hendley (Doug) and their children Makenzie, Austin, Myles & Addisyn, Adam Back (Rosi) and their sons, Logan, Caden & Lincoln, Sarah Brosz (Chris) & their sons, Isaac & Levi, Amanda Kriesel-Koll (friend Nick) and children, Colten & Evelyn; two sisters, Marguerite Barrett of Sioux Falls, SD, and Ruth Scheuren (Henry) of Epiphany, SD; two sisters-in-law, Aimee Schlumbohm & Lorayne Koll of Rock Rapids, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Darryl Koll on September 13, 2011; her parents, Jones & Josephine Clark; her brother, Edward Clark (Viona); her sister, Florence Gruhlke (Don); brothers-in-law, Bud Schlumbohm, Howard Koll, Raymond Barrett; and in-laws Beverly Schmidt (Vernon) & Marvyl Kahl (Norval).

A private family burial took place on Good Friday, April 10, 2020 at St Leo Catholic Cemetery in Pipestone MN. The pallbearers were David Kriesel-Koll, Tim Back, Travis Back, Adam Back & Doug Hendley. The family was planning on having a Memorial Mass & Celebration on her 95th birthday, October 3, 2020, but due to the continuing challenges & concerns of COVID-19, we felt in the best interest of our family & friends not to. Please say a prayer for her that day! During the regular Saturday night Mass at 5:00 PM at St Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone, a Mass intention will be for her.
