Evelyn C. Stueven

EVELYN CLARA STUEVEN was born June 28, 1930, to Eli and Alvina (Lauck) Kitchenmaster in Luverne, Minnesota. She was raised on a farm east of Hills, Minnesota and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Steen, Minnesota. She attended school in Hills. On September 2, 1955 Evelyn married Wilfred Stueven at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa. The couple made their first home in George, Iowa moving two years later to live near Rock Rapids. In 1964, Evelyn and Wilfred moved their family to Pipestone, Minnesota and to Hills in 1968, where they farmed. In addition to raising three children, being a homemaker and farm wife, Evelyn was also employed as a housekeeper for many families. After retiring from farming the couple moved to Luverne in July of 1988. In June of 2013 the couple moved to the Tuff Memorial Village in Hills. In August of 2017 Evelyn moved to the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills. On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, surrounded by her family Evelyn died peacefully at the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 29 days.

Evelyn was a member of St. John Lutheran in Luverne and was active with Ladies Circle, the Women’s Society and taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery.

Evelyn will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Harlan and his wife, Susan of Hills and Paul and his wife, Marlene of Welcome, Minnesota; her daughter, Marlene and her husband, Joe Quincey of George, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Verla and her husband, Le Roy Fick of Luverne; and brother-in-law, Gerhard Fick of Luverne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred; parents, Eli and Alvina Kitchenmaster; a granddaughter, Tanya Joy Stueven; two sisters, Eldora Fick and Myra Polesky; four brothers-in-law, Ed Polesky, Marvin, Harold, and Lavern Stueven; and three sisters-in-law, Alma, Verna, and Karen Stueven.
