Obituary for Frances Jaacks

FRANCES DARLENE JAACKS was born to Arie and Janna (Groot) Rysdam on January 27, 1925 in Sanborn, Iowa. Three years later, the family moved to Holland, Minnesota and later to Pipestone, Minnesota. She attended Pipestone high school and graduated in 1942. On February 19, 1948, she was united in marriage to Harold Ashton Jaacks in the First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. The couple then moved to various places including: Price, Utah; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Watertown, South Dakota. In 1954, the family moved just south of Pipestone to a farm. In 1965, the couple moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and then moved to Valley Springs, South Dakota. While they were moving to various places, Frances was primarily a housewife, but also worked part-time as a bookkeeper. Frances officially retired from working in 1984. Harold preceded Frances in death on Tuesday, January 23, 1996. Frances continued to live on her own for many years, before moving in to the Bethany Home in Brandon, South Dakota. She died peacefully at the Bethany Home on Monday, December 24, 2018 at the age of 93 years, 10 months, and 28 days.

As a devout individual, Frances assisted in the church as a Sunday school teacher, was active in bible study groups, and was a member of the church choir. In her spare time, Frances enjoyed sewing and doing crafts. Frances also enjoyed refinishing furniture, gardening, camping, and fishing. Above all else, Frances loved the time that she was able to spend with her friends and family.

She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Karen (Larry) Van Dyke of Valley Springs and Kathy Jaacks of Valley Springs; two grandchildren, Chris (Susan) Van Dyke and Jennifer (Darin) Hynek; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Van Dyke, Madison Van Dyke, Maci Van Dyke, Victoria Hynek, Jessicka Hynek; one brother, Bill Rysdam of Lakewood, California; and many other loving friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her five sisters; four brothers; and her parents.
