Obituary for Gary "Percy" Lindahl

GARY “PERCY” GLENN LINDAHL was born on June 5, 1949, to Glenn and Alene (Toft) Lindahl in Tyler, Minnesota. Percy grew up in Ruthton and was active in sports throughout his schooling. He graduated from Ruthton High School in 1967. Percy attended college in Marshall, Minnesota, until he was drafted into the United States Army. He served as a Clerk and was stationed in Korea. After Percy’s honorable discharge he returned to Ruthton. He owned and operated Alene’s Restaurant and Lindy’s Lanes until 1990 when he sold the business. Percy then went to work on wind turbines in 1993. He traveled to India in 1995 to teach on how to build wind turbines. Percy’s passion and work for wind turbines continued until he passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at the Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota at the age of 72 years, 10 months, and one day.

Percy was a member of the Woodrow Wilson American Legion Post #506. He enjoyed playing pool, bowling, watching Minnesota Vikings football, and going on trips to the casino. Percy was an avid fisher and enjoyed fishing on Lake Benton, East Twin Lake, and Dead Coon Lake. Later in his life he would travel around the world along with his friend Alan Erickson. Percy especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He will be remembered for always having a big heart.

Percy is survived by his children, Kristi King and family of Rapid City, South Dakota, Angelene Kirst and family of Waupon, Wisconsin, Jeremy (Katrina) Lindahl and family of Highland, Wisconsin, Amy Nuy and family of Marshall, Minnesota, and David Lindahl and family of Ruthton; his siblings, Gene (Sandy) Lindahl and Gail Curtis; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Greg Lindahl.
