Genevieve A. Molitor

August 6, 1919 — November 17, 2012

GENEVIEVE ANN MOLITOR was born on August 6, 1919 to Albert and Mary (Kraemer) Buhr at St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD, and was baptized in the Catholic faith. She was raised on various acreages in the area before moving to Stewart, MN. She attended and graduated from St. Boniface Catholic School in Stewart.

On April 27, 1946 Genevieve was united in marriage to Marlin ‘Marty’ H. Molitor at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Stewart, where Genevieve worked as a telephone operator. They then moved to Minneapolis, MN. A short time later Genevieve and Marty moved to Luverne, MN to care for Marty’s father. The couple quickly settled into Luverne and Genevieve was eventually blessed to be a homemaker to their seven children. As the children became older, she also worked part-time as a waitress and in later years managed the Sunrise Motel for one year with Marty. Through the years, Genevieve and Marty spent time living in other communities including Waverly, NE and Sioux Falls, SD. While living in Sioux Falls, she and Marty managed an apartment building.

Marty preceded her in death on December 18, 1996. At that time Genevieve returned to Luverne. She continued her active life as a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Luverne, VFW Auxiliary, Pink Ladies, and R.S.V.P. Throughout her life she enjoyed bowling, golfing, crocheting, card making and an occasional Bank Bus Tour or casino visit. She will be remembered for her strength as a person. This will be most appreciated by the stubborn children to whom she passed this trait.

Genevieve died peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2012 surrounded by her family at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage at the age of 93 years, 3 months, and 11 days.
