Gordon "Gordy" Moeller

August 25, 1939 — October 13, 2016

GORDON 'GORDY' ERICK MOELLER was born on August 25, 1939 to Erich and Selma (Pearson) Moeller in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was baptized on September 24, 1939, and confirmed on June 21, 1953, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone. Gordy was raised on the family farm north of Pipestone and attended country school for grades 1-7, and then Pipestone public school, graduating from high school in 1957. He attended one semester of school at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota and returned home to work on the farm. On August 25, 1961, Gordy was united in marriage to Melva Jean Maranell at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone. Gordy was a life-long farmer. In his early years, he worked part time for Pipestone Veterinary Clinic at the Pipestone Sale Barn. In the 1970’s, he began selling seed for Keltgen Seed Co. and then for Mycogen Seed in 1995. In November of 2015, he retired and continued to live on the farm until he passed away there on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at the age of 77 years, one month, and 18 days.

Gordy was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he had served as President and Elder. He was also a director of Sweet Township Mutual Insurance Company for 35 years, served on the Pipestone School Board for 20 years, and as chairman of the school board for 12 years. Gordy enjoyed golfing and traveling. If he had the chance, Gordy would visit with you; he enjoyed a good conversation with anyone. He liked to watch the Minnesota Vikings and Twins and was an avid PAS sports fan. He loved watching the grandchildren play, he was so proud of them. Farming was his passion, but Gordy loved his family most of all.

Gordy is lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Jean of Pipestone; three children, Michelle (Fred) Tidemann of Rosendale, Wisconsin, Michael (Jill) Moeller of Pipestone, and Mark “Skip” (Kaylene) Moeller of Pipestone; one sister, Marlene (Hill) Barrington of Dewey, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Sueky) Moeller, Krieg Tidemann, Marissa Moeller, Cole Tidemann, Collin Moeller, Austin Moeller, Morgan Moeller, and Mariah Moeller. Gordy was preceded in death by his parents, Erich and Selma; his grandparents; mother- and father-in-law; and uncles and aunts.

Blessed be his memory!
