Henrietta Vander Wal…

was born May 21, 1928 to John and Anna (Mailand) Nieuwboer on a farm southwest of Edgerton, Minnesota where she was raised and attended school. After she completed her education, she moved to Pipestone, Minnesota and worked at the Northland Cafe, the Pan-O-Gold Bakery, and the Pipestone County Medical Center. On November 3, 1952, she was
united in marriage to Frederick Vander Wal at the First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they lived in Pipestone where they raised their five children and Henrietta continued to work as a cook at the hospital for the next 25 years.

Henrietta was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone where she served as a deacon and a member of the Rebecca Circle. She liked to do crafts and embroidery, collect teapots and do ceramics. She especially enjoyed cooking and baking. Most of all she loved to spend time with her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Constance (Keith) Johansen of Rochester, MN, Cynthia Prange of Faribault, MN, Kathleen (John) Kaz of Burnsville, MN and Krystal (Bob) Grooters of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren, Angela, Cassandra, Chris, Kate and Michele; and five great-grandchildren.
