Irene Grace Tirrel

August 4, 1941 — May 7, 2021

IRENE GRACE TIRREL was born on August 4, 1941 to Clara Wittrock in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was raised and attended school in Pipestone, graduating from high school. She was united in marriage to Roy Tirrel on July 21, 1961 and the couple made their home in Trosky, Minnesota. During those years she worked at Fecker’s Produce and also worked at the Pipestone County Medical Center for 26 years. They lived in Trosky for 31 years and then moved to Pipestone in 1995. She continued to live at home until July of 2019 when she entered the care of the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. Roy preceded her in death on January 30, 2020. On Friday, May 7, 2021, Irene died peacefully at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone at the age of 79 years, nine months, and three days.

Irene was a faithful woman, she taught her children to pray always and to take all of your cares to the Lord. She loved flowers, and gardening. She enjoyed watching the birds or going fishing with Roy. Irene was a great listener; she could listen to anyone’s problems. Many hours were spent with her daughters or grandchildren on the kitchen chair telling her all about life’s problems or challenges. She was an amazing person to receive advice from. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, always.

Irene is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Lorie (Scott) Quincey of Pipestone, and Judy (Doug) DeRuyter of Holland, Minnesota; grandchildren, Jennifer (special friend, Josh Olberding) Quincey, Kayla (Jordan) Evans, Mason, Cody, Alyssa, and Jordan DeRuyter; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Evans; and siblings, Sharon Blom of Holland, and Tom Hillard and Larry Hillard both of Pipestone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her brother, Leo Hillard; and the Wittrock Family: August, Margaret, Walter, Dorothy, Clara and LeRoy.
