JAMES "JIM" RICHARD DREESEN was born on May 3, 1951 to Dick and Dolores (Rust) Dreesen in Pipestone, Minnesota. As a child he liked to ride horses with his friends and family, and help with chores and fieldwork on the family farm – The I.O.U. Ranch. He grew up on farms in the Beaver Creek, Minnesota and Luverne, Minnesota areas. He graduated from high school in 1969 and enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard in 1970 and served until 1975. He was united in marriage to Patricia Perry in 1972 and the couple farmed north of Beaver Creek until 1984. They moved to Dumas, Texas and worked at Swift meat packing plant until moving back in 1987 to the Beaver Creek area. Jim also worked at John Morrell in Sioux Falls, South Dakota until the early 90s. The couple eventually moved to Jasper, Minnesota where Jim worked for Ellison Meat, then drove feed truck delivering to hog operations. Lastly, Jim was employed for LG Everest where he retired around 2016. Jim died peacefully in his home on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the age of 69 years, eight months, and 16 days.

Jim was a member of the American Reformed Church Luverne. He was active in RCYF growing up and helped with the remodel of the first addition. He liked to read westerns, watch any John Wayne movie, play Solitaire, bird watch, and go for drives around the countryside with Pat. Jim liked to do a bit of travelling, especially taking John on vacations when he was growing up and going to California to spend time with Dave, Nora, Megan & Tiffany. Jim loved to pull into your yard just to shoot the breeze. He was a generous guy who liked a cold drink and a bad joke.

Jim is lovingly remembered by his two children, Sheri (Doug) Baker of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and David (Nora) Dreesen of Fairfield, California; three grandchildren, John Baker, and Tiffany and Megan Dreesen; sister, Jeane (Jack) Leslie of Luverne; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Dreesen; his parents, Dick and Dolores Dreesen; one brother, Donnie Dreesen; and his grandparents, Ralph and Aalke Dreesen and Ben and Tina Rust.

Memorials may be directed to Jim's daughter, Sheri Baker.
