JAMES "JIM" HELLWINCKEL was born on June 23, 1956 to John and Elaine (Buchels) Hellwinckel in Pipestone, Minnesota where he was raised. He was baptized in 1956. He attended school at Pipestone High School and later received his GED. He worked for local farmers, bailing hay and worked at Morell's Meat Packing plant. He later worked for Bayliner in Pipestone, Marysville, Washington, and North Carolina. He was later employed by the Pipestone County Medical Center in maintenance, Iowa Beef Processing in Luverne and Ellison Meats in Pipestone. He also worked at Suzlon in Pipestone. Later on he got hurt and started SSI and had some surgeries. In January, 2021, he entered Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone for physical therapy for a time. He had been home a week when he suffered a heart attack and was admitted to Pipestone County Medical Center where he died on Monday, April 12, 2021 at the age of 64 years, nine months and 20 days.

Jim was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Trosky, Minnesota. He was an avid Vikings fan. He had a goofy sense of humor, liked to make people laugh and always told people to "Be cool." He enjoyed playing air guitar and classic rock and knew all the words to songs and movies. He played hard and had fun, enjoying a 6 pack of Keystone with whoever would partake with him. He never gave up and always kept going through challenges.

He is lovingly remembered by his girlfriend, Pam Tellinghuisen and her son, Coty of Pipestone, Minnesota; two children, Jacob Alvin Bauman of Fifty Lakes, Minnesota and Olivia Grace Hellwinckel-Rice (Tyler Braun) of New Effington, South Dakota; one grandson, Gunnar Victor Braun; five siblings, Jerry Hellwinckel of Pipestone, Bob (Lori) Hellwinckel of Trosky, Minnesota, Jeff (Lois) Hellwinckel of Trosky, Katherine (Harlan) Lape of Edgerton, Minnesota, Roxanne (Kevin) Bickford of Pipestone; and many nieces, nephews and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elaine Hellwinckel; his sister-in-law, Pat Hellwinckel; and his nephew, Alan Hellwinckel.
