JANE BAKER BOSCH was born on December 2, 1936 to Dick and Tena (Jouwstra) Jansma in Rock Rapids, Iowa. She grew up on a farm near Steen, Minnesota. As a young girl, Jane learned to play the piano, sew and helped with many chores on the farm including churning butter and taking care of the chickens. She attended school through the eighth grade in Lester, Iowa. On January 15, 1957 she was united in marriage to Albert Baker at the Steen Reformed Church. The couple settled onto the Baker homestead east of Steen where they farmed and raised their six children. It was a good life on the farm and Jane loved taking care of her family. Her husband, Albert, died unexpectedly on his farmland in August of 1991. In 1994, Jane moved into a home that she built in Steen. On November 20, 1999 she married John Bosch. The couple lived at her home in Steen until November 10, 2018 when she fell and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. Following her fall, Jane moved to the Tuff Home in Hills, Minnesota where she died peacefully on February 23, 2019 at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 21 days.

Jane was a member of the Steen Reformed Church where she served as the music director for the primary Sunday School department for 25 years. It was a good fit as Jane loved music and loved to sing. She was an active member of the Women’s RCW and volunteered at church wherever she was needed. Jane also spent many hours volunteering at the Hills-Beaver Creek School. In 2002, she received the “Friend of Education” award. The school kids called her “Mrs. B” as Baker-Bosch was a little long for them. She was a member of Extension and active in community events, serving on various committees throughout the years. Jane’s favorite way to spend her time was doing things with her family, whether that be Sunday dinners, fishing, playing cards and board games, enjoying time at the lake, cheering on water fights, or attending grandchildren’s ball games and activities. She also loved to talk with family on the phone and will be remembered for her “yello” every time she picked up. She took every opportunity to entertain her family and friends and always had food to share.

Jane is lovingly remembered by her husband, John Bosch of Hills; children, Glenda (Terry) Sandstede of Steen, Eunice (David) Roozenboom of Steen, Lois (Arlen) Leenderts of Hills, Alan (Vonnie) Baker of Steen, Laura (Brad) Dykstra of Soda Springs, ID, and Tim (Michele) Baker of Harrisburg, SD; 20 grandchildren, Laressa (Justin) Birger, Deanna (Phil) Smith, LaDonna (Nick) Freiborg, Melinda (Chad) Kissell, Alisha Roozenboom, Valerie (Cory) Meinerts, Clint (Stephanie) Roozenboom, Kari (Brett) Quall, Greg (Laura) Leenderts, Tonya (Ryan) Devers, Jessie (Jeremy) Eben, Kilee (Eric) Uittenbogaard, Danielle (Shea) Klooster, Hallie Baker, Alex (Jordan) Dykstra, Tony Dykstra, Cassie Dykstra, Peyton Baker, Karlee Baker and Abby Baker; 26 great-grandchildren, with five more on the way; step-children, Ranee (Kevin) Hagen of Hills, Brad (Linda) Bosch of Steen, Larry (Nicie) Bosch of Steen, Julie (Steve) Peters of Mountain Lake, MN, Troy (Missy) Bosch of Luverne and Kathy (Randy) Fick of Beaver Creek; step-grandchildren, Kassidy (Jeremiah) Rice, Matthew (Angeli) Hagen, Ana Hagen, Ela Hagen, Joshua (Kyle Snyder) Bosch, Ashley (Jordan) Huisken, Dylan (Krista) Bosch, Brandon Bosch, Jordan Bosch, Janessa Peters, Lexia Peters, Kendra Bosch, Logan Bosch, Taylor Reese, Madison Fick, Sidney Fick and Kenadie Fick; 10 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Hommes of Rock Rapids and Mary (Ron) Niessink of Luverne, MN; and other family.
