Jean Brockberg

LORNA JEAN BROCKBERG was born to Loren Michael and Helen Elfreda (Johnson) Riffel on June 7, 1935 in Pipestone, Minnesota where she was raised and attended school. After her graduation from Pipestone High School in 1953, she became employed at Pan-O-Gold Baking Company in Pipestone. In 1954, she was united in marriage to Paul Brockberg. After their marriage, they lived on a farm near Trosky, Minnesota where Jean raised their children. During this time, she also drove school bus and worked in the shipping department of M&M in Pipestone. In 1980, Jean moved into Pipestone and shortly thereafter began working as a teller for TCF Bank. A couple of years later, she became employed for First National Bank in Pipestone as a teller and then as the director of the Heritage Club for the bank. After her retirement in 2005, she kept busy working part-time at Sweet Township Mutual, Fort Pipestone and the Pipestone Performing Arts Center. For many years, she also helped at the Hartquist Funeral Home answering the phone and greeting people at visitations. In March, 2014, she became a resident of Bethany Meadows in Brandon, South Dakota. In April, 2016, Jean transferred to the Bethany Home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she died peacefully, surrounded by her family at the age of 81 years, one month and 23 days.

Jean was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone. For several years, she served on the Board at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone and helped with the annual Tour of Tables.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Jeff Brockberg and his wife Deb of Pipestone, Minnesota, Gayle Herter of Shorewood, Illinois, Bryan Brockberg and his wife Janet of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Brenda Bleeker and her husband Bruce of Shakopee, Minnesota; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Marlene Seykora of Venice, Florida; and her special friends, Roger Elverson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Diane VandeKieft and Dorothy Brinkman of Pipestone, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents.
