Jean E. Lundberg

May 30, 1930 — August 4, 2022

JEAN ELEANOR LUNDBERG, 92, of Orono, Minnesota, passed peacefully Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Trails of Orono Assisted Living and Memory Care after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Jean and her beloved twin sister, Joyce, were born May 30, 1930 to William and Ethel (Larson) Norgaard at their family farm on the shore of Lake Benton near the town of Tyler, Minnesota. At the age of eight, Jean moved with her family to a farm south of Tyler where she attended Tyler Public School through high school graduation.

On January 29, 1950, Jean married Marvin Rudolph Lundberg in Tyler. In their 61 years of marriage, the couple raised two wonderful sons and followed Marvin’s career in the United States Air Force across the continental US, Alaska, and Germany giving the family many precious experiences together especially touring Europe. Following Marvin’s retirement from the Air Force, Jean and the family returned to Eagan, Minnesota where Marvin worked for Sperry Univac before the couple retired to Sun City, Arizona. Following Marvin’s passing in 2011, Jean returned to Minnesota to live close to family.

Jean is survived by children, Daniel (Jane) Lundberg of Vancouver, Washington, James (Carrie) Lundberg of Orono; and two grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin sister, Joyce Meyer of Tyler, as well as her brothers, Glen (Shirley) Norgaard of Faribault, Minnesota, and Virgil (Betty) Norgaard of Tyler. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin in 2011; sister, Violet in 2016; and her parents.

Jean had a kind and social spirit. She worked in retail and particularly enjoyed working in fashion where she took pride in helping others look and feel good about themselves. With the heart of an angel, Jean was known to offer a compliment, kind word, meal, brownie, or helping hand to everyone she met. A sweet and gentle farm girl, Jean loved to keep busy with her many hobbies including knitting, crocheting, sewing clothes from store patterns, cards, miniature golf, hair dressing, and preparing meals for friends and family. She loved to dance the jitterbug and was known to enjoy the occasional “nickel slot”. Most of all, Jean loved to be close to her husband and helped in every endeavor including remodeling many homes and RVs. They both loved dogs and RVing across the country to spend time with friends and relatives.

Jean will be missed by her two sons, two grandchildren, twin sister, brothers, and friends from around the world.

Faithful church goers, Jean and Marvin were Members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sun City, Arizona, but always considered Tyler, Minnesota their home.
