Jerold Dewitte

JEROLD FLORIAN DEWITTE was born on August 17, 1953 to Florian and Lillian (Hansen) DeWitte in Pipestone, Minnesota. Jerold was raised on a family farm near Jasper, Minnesota where he began his education. After the loss of his father, the family moved to Pipestone where Jerry continued his education, graduating with the Pipestone Area High School class of 1971. After graduation, he moved to Arizona for a time before returning to Pipestone. He worked at Pepsi driving truck until he started his own business, D Sanitation. He sold the business in 1981 and started farming. In 1985, Jerry began working at Ellison Meats for over 10 years. He went back to trucking for several companies in the area until 2005 when his health caused him to retire. Jerry died at his home in Pipestone on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the age of 62 years, 4 months and 17 days.

Jerry enjoyed golfing, although he didn’t get the chance to do it as much as he would like. He also liked fishing and reading, especially Westerns. Jerry loved watching TV and the companionship of his dog, Buddy.

Jerry is lovingly remembered by his children, Jessica (Justin) Miller of Clear Lake, South Dakota, Ryan (Susan) DeWitte of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Eric (Sara) DeWitte of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Jade, Jackson, Kain, Tugg, Sophie, Emerson, Jillian and Damien; Special friend, Maria Cavros of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; mother, Lillian DeWitte of Pipestone, Minnesota; brother, Lawrence (Joan) DeWitte of Pipestone; sister, Rosealie (Gordy Huebner) Schubert of Pipestone; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Buddy. He is preceded in death by his father, Florian.
