Jerry "Brunsie" Bruns

November 24, 1947 — September 25, 2014

JERRY 'BRUNSIE' BRUNS was born on November 24, 1947 to Theodore and Gertie (Haken) Bruns in Slayton, Minnesota. He was raised near Garvin, Minnesota where he attended country school. The family then moved to Slayton where Jerry graduated with the Slayton High School class of 1965. Following graduation, Jerry worked part-time for Lindberg Trucking and Kohl’s Trucking. He also worked at Harlan’s Hardware for 11 years. While working there, he met Gloria Hudson in the nuts and bolts section. They were married on February 1, 1975 at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton. Following their marriage, they lived in Slayton and Jerry continued to work in the hardware store. In 1977, he became employed by Northern States Power Company. The family moved to Pipestone, Minnesota in 1978, where Jerry continued to work until his retirement from Xcel Energy after 30 years. The last three winters have been spent in Alamo, Texas, meeting great friends who became their Texas family. On Thursday, September 18, 2014, Jerry entered the Pipestone County Hospice House where he died on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the age of 66 years, ten months and one day.

Jerry was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pipestone. He was always a quiet and loving father and husband; he enjoyed time with his family and liked to chase the little white ball around out on the golf course.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Gloria Bruns of Pipestone, Minnesota; two daughters, Kimberly Lueck (Rick Carstensen) of Trosky, Minnesota, and Lori and Brian Spoonemore of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandchildren, Taylor Carson, Hudson and Bryson Spoonemore, Austin Lueck and Taylar Langowski; two brothers, LeRoy and Lois Bruns of Lake Crystal, Minnesota, and Allen and Margaret Bruns of Park Rapids, Minnesota; and one sister, Karen Thomas of Kingman, Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Duane Thomas; his mother-in-law, Lois Hudson; and his sister-in-law, Cindy Conolly.

Blessed be his memory.
