Jimmie Charles Wolff

February 8, 1935 — August 14, 2017

JIMMIE CHARLES WOLFF was born on February 8, 1935 at the home of Charles and Mary (Schlager) Wolff in Belmont Township, near Jackson, Minnesota. He was baptized in the Methodist Church in Lakefield, Minnesota. He attended country school and high school in Windom, Minnesota. Upon completion of his education, he helped his dad on the farm and worked for Butler Steel Bends. On January 9, 1955, he married Ardell Thompson at Bethany Lutheran Church in Bergen, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they made their home in Lakefield. He began long distance hauling for Zippy Trucking, mostly going to the east coast. In 1963, he was asked to come and work at the Cazenovia elevator and haul grain to Minneapolis. The family then moved to Ward, South Dakota. He worked there until the elevator was purchased by the Holland Coop. The family then moved to Holland, Minnesota, where he worked at the elevator and continued to haul grain to Minneapolis. In 1969, he moved the family to Pipestone. He then began working for Larson Trucking. He bought his first truck in 1970 and began his own business. His fleet traveled to many states. After his retirement, he helped Uilk Farms and Double D Gravel. On Monday, August 14, 2017, he passed away at the Avera Tyler Healthcare Center in Tyler, Minnesota from cancer at the age of 82 years, six months, and six days.

Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends, doing anything from camping, hunting, fishing and going South in the winter. Jim was an avid sports fan and enjoyed telling the announcers and players how to play the right way. Jim challenged many people when playing cards and dice, he always won – but he was also the scorekeeper.

Jimmie is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ardell of Pipestone, Minnesota; his children, Deb Lange of Pipestone, Minnesota, Roland (Kim) Wolff of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Janet (Dave) Miller of Littleton, Colorado; six grandchildren, Tommy (Kelly) Lange, Ashley (Jordan) Hanson, Rachel Wolff, Lindsay (Josh) Burtzel, Wade Wolff, and Alishia Sowden; 12 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruby (Orlo) Bennett of Lakefield, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney; his parents; two brothers, John and Raymond Wolff; two sisters, Gladys Schmoll and MaryAnn Wilde; and a son-in-law, Tom Lange.
