John David Tutt, Jr. was born August 24, 1914 to John and Christine (Corneliussen) Tutt on the family farm north of Lake Wilson, Minnesota. He graduated from Lake Wilson High School in 1933. Following graduation he worked with his brother, Earl, as an electrician and wired several houses in Murray County as the REA came into the area. John started to farm in Ellsborough Township in 1940. On July 2, 1941 John married Stella Erickson in the Skandia Evangelical Free Church parsonage in rural Balaton. The couple made their home in rural Balaton until they retired to Marshall, Minnesota in 1980. In 1995 they moved to Balaton. On Monday, October 8, 2012 John died at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the age of 98 years, 1 month, and 24 days.
