Obituary for June "June Bug" Goodmund
JUNE "JUNE BUG" MARVELYN GOODMUND was born on June 29, 1930, to Olaf and Minnie (Christensen) Swanson in Russell, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended country school in the Russell area at District 71. June was employed at Storck’s in Tyler, Minnesota. On June 25, 1949, June was united in marriage to Warren James Goodmund in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Russell where they farmed for several years. June and Warren were members of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshall where she served the congregation by cleaning for 10 years. She also stayed busy babysitting and cleaning homes. In 1998, they moved to the New Vista Apartments in Tyler. Warren preceded June in death on January 21, 1999. June continued to reside in Tyler, becoming a resident at the Danebod Village and later the Sunrise Manor in October of 2016. June passed away there on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at the age of 91 years, four months, and two days.
June was currently a member of First English Lutheran Church in Tyler. In her spare time, June could commonly be found immersed in a TV show from the golden age. She also enjoyed watching the televised local polka dances for years after she attended them in person. June had the admirable quality of approaching life in the most positive way. She believed it was important to always wear a smile and appreciate what you have. A complaint rarely, if ever, passed her lips and she made certain to express her thankfulness to those around her. June's sense of humor seemed to develop with age and she was always ready for a good time, especially if it included spending time with friends or family and her favorite: a pizza party or broasted chicken dinner. Visits from grandchildren and great-grandchildren always brightened her day. Above all, her family meant the world to her.
June is survived by her daughter, Linda (Jim) Johansen; grandsons, Troy, Justin (Lisa), and Jonah (Abby) Burckhardt; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Carsen, and Parker Burckhardt; siblings, Marlene (Roy) Yonker, Leona Mikkelson, and Howard Swanson; and many other relatives & friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Jimmy and Keith; infant brother, Howard; sisters, Violet Binnebose, Ruby Armstrong, Mabel Dressen; and brothers, Lee, Arden, Willard, Earl, and Elmer Swanson.
