Kenneth Krause

June 26, 1944 — April 15, 2017

KENNETH & MARGARET “PEG” (BERRY) KRAUSE of Pipestone, Minnesota, both passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2017, in Pipestone: Ken at his home at the age of 72 years, nine months, and 19 days, Peg at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone at the age of 73 years, one month, and 17 days.

Ken was born on June 26, 1944 to Everette Harold and Hazel Eleanor (Fossum) Krause in Wood Lake, Minnesota. He attended school and graduated from Belview High School. He served in the Minnesota National Guard and was based in Louisiana and Camp Ripley, Minnesota. Before he moved to the Twin Cities, Ken helped his father on the family farm.

Peg was born on February 28, 1944 to Margaret (Burke) and John Berry in Madelia, Minnesota. She was raised by her grandmother, Margaret Francis Dean Burke (the widow of the town veterinarian, Dr. Francis Philip Burke). She attended school and graduated from Madelia High School. In her younger years she lived in various places, including California and Texas, finally residing in the Twin Cities, where she met Ken.

The two were united in marriage on March 21, 1973, in Hennepin County. While living in the cities Ken worked for BFI Sanitation and Peg as a clerk in retail stores. After Ken’s retirement from BFI in 2005, the couple bought a RV and travelled for a couple of years. In 2007, they moved to Pipestone and resided there until the time of their deaths.

Both Ken and Peg enjoyed antiquing, collecting many unique items in their home. In Ken’s youth he played guitar with the family band, The Country Drifters, of which his Dad, Buck, was also a member. Peg was always an animal lover, and held a special place in her heart for her dog, Eddy, and her two cats. The couple also liked their trips to casinos together.

Ken is lovingly remembered by his mother, Hazel, of Bloomington, Minnesota; brothers, Jerry (Cheryle) Krause of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Richard (special friend, Ann) Krause of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and one sister, Faye Angrimson of Taunton, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father, Everette.

Peg is lovingly remembered by her children, Coreena (Dale) Ross of Grass Valley, CA, Michael (Mark) Travere of Las Vegas, Nevada, Donald (Nelda) Mann of Northern California, Nancy Mann of Odessa, Texas, and Matthew (Elizabeth Pollard) Franzen of San Jose, California; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her brothers, Chuck (Colleen) Roe, James (Mona) Roe, and Truman (Laurie) Roe; and one brother, Jim Ludwig of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Roe and stepfather, Warance Roe; her father, John Berry; her former husbands, David Kelly and Donald Mann; her sisters, Mary Miles, Kristine Roe, and Jerilyn Roe; her brother Warance Roe; and her uncle, Harold Burke.

Blessed be their memory.
