Kurtis Lee Dougherty

November 9, 1990 — October 27, 2013

Kurtis Lee Dougherty was born November 9, 1990 in St. James, Minnesota to Wayne and Brenda (Clausen) Dougherty. He was baptized December 16, 1990 at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin, Minnesota, and later confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota. When he was one-year-old he moved with his family to Tyler and then Arco. In June 1993 he moved to rural Tyler with his mother and step-father, Wayne Possail. He attended Lincoln-HI schools in Hendricks and Ivanhoe. Kurtis worked at the Log Cabin in Tyler during high school. He was employed for two years at J & B Group in Pipestone, Minnesota as a meat cutter and packer, and currently worked as a cook at The Brick Manor in Arco. On Sunday, October 27, 2013 Kurtis died as the result of an auto accident two weeks before his 23rd birthday.

Kurtis was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed helping his brothers with derby cars, and especially liked helping on the farm. He liked spending time with family, friends, nieces and nephews, and mostly being with his little girl, Emerson. She was his world!

Kurtis is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Emerson Dougherty, and her mother, Hilary Bauling of St. James, Minnesota; his mother and step-father, Brenda and Wayne Possail of Tyler, Minnesota; his father, Wayne Dougherty of Frost, Minnesota; 3 brothers, Lyle (Crystle) Dougherty and Jonathan (Sara) Dougherty, both of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Lucas Dougherty of Streeter, North Dakota; 7 sisters, Morgan and Natalee Possail of Tyler, Minnesota, Debra Dougherty of Mankato, Minnesota, Brook Dougherty of Streeter, North Dakota, Amy Manna of Mankato, Minnesota, Mary Manna Martin of Lake Crystal, Minnesota, and Tiffany Borntrager of Oldham, South Dakota; grandmothers, Connie Clausen of St. James, Minnesota, Engold Diel of Lewisville, Minnesota, and Barbara Possail of Arco, Minnesota; 10 nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Arthur Dougherty, Sr., Lyle Clausen, and Jerald Possail; a brother, Wayne Paul Dougherty; and an uncle, Eugene Dougherty.

Blessed be his memory.
