LARRY DEAN CARLSON was born August 22, 1955, to Thomas and Phyllis (Dewilde) Carlson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Larry was born and raised in Sioux Falls where he grew up with two siblings. During his childhood he enjoyed hunting. Larry graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls. He then attended college in Vermillion South Dakota. Following graduation he worked as a truck driver for CHS, MCT in Sioux Falls, and for Cnex delivering gas. He drove for the past 38 years and retired around 2017 and 2018. Larry died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at the Brookings Hospital in Brookings at the age of 66 years and 21 days.

Larry enjoyed fishing, shooting, gardening, and car restoration. He absolutely loved animals and had four cats at home. Larry had a huge heart, was a dedicated worker, and had a great sense of humor.

Larry is survived by his son, Grant Carlson of Tri Cities, Washington; grandchildren, Aiden Carlson and Kaiden Carlson; brother, Thomas Carlson of Bruce, South Dakota; sister, Lynn Carlson of Pipestone; and an elite group of best friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and uncle, Harris Dewilde.
