Larry Hellwinckel

LARRY JAMES HELLWINCKEL was born on February 5, 1939 to Henry and Helen (Brockberg) Hellwinckel in Pipestone, Minnesota. He received his baptism and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Trosky, Minnesota. Larry was raised on the family farm and attended country school through the seventh grade in Elmer Township. He then furthered his education through the eleventh grade at Pipestone High School. On April 5, 1958 Larry was united in marriage to Barbara Fodness at Blue Mound Lutheran Church in Rock County. During the first years of their marriage, the couple lived in various places while Larry worked as farm laborer. In 1966, the couple moved to their current residence in Hardwick, Minnesota. During that same year, Larry became employed at Luverne Creamery in Luverne, Minnesota, which later became Land O’Lakes. On November 21, 1971 he made his profession of faith and joined Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick. At the age of 56, Larry became disabled and was forced to retire after 30 years of service to his company. Although he endured several procedures due to his health, Larry continued to enjoy life. He particularly enjoyed fishing, camping, working on cars and remodeling Barb’s house.

On Monday, November 23, 2015 Larry died peacefully under hospice care surrounded by his family at his home.

Larry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara; five children, Karen (Arlyn) Sneller of Kenneth, Minnesota, Kristy (Mike) Willers of Beaver Creek, Minnesota, Kimberly (Ron) Ramert of Russell, Minnesota, Lisa (Rod) Rosin of Hardwick, and Kelly (Tom) Dohlmann of Luverne; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen; grandson, Colin James Rosin; stillborn twin grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Fodness.
