Obituary for Lavonne Fuhrmann

LAVONNE FUHRMANN was born to Clarence and Inez (Lee) Christensen on June 20, 1929 on the family farm near Tyler, Minnesota where she was raised and attended country school. She continued her education at Tyler High School and graduated as salutatorian in 1947. On June 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to Fred Fuhrmann at the Scandia Free Church in Balaton, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm near Tyler. In February 1949, they moved to a farm in Aetna Township near Ruthton, Minnesota. While living on the farm, Lavonne was an integral part of the farming operation working side by side with her husband. In 1992, she decided to try something new and attended Southwest Vocational School to study and become a home health care aide. Fred preceded her in death on February 18, 2009. After his death, she continued to reside on the family farm, but spent her winter months at Danebod Village in Tyler. On Saturday, March 10, 2012, Lavonne suffered a heart attack and was taken to the Tyler hospital where she died at the age of 82 years, eight months and 20 days.
Lavonne was an active member of the Ruthton Methodist Church until the church closed. She then became a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton. Over the years, she was very active in the NFO, writing the NFO newsletter for Pipestone County. Earlier, she served as a 4-H leader in Ruthton. She was always eager to learn new things which kept her engaged in a wide variety of interests. She was an avid reader and card player. She enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles and solving Sudoku puzzles. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her big, generous hugs.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Frederick and his wife Julie Fuhrmann of Woodbury, Minnesota; one grandson, Christopher Fuhrmann of Woodbury, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her beloved grandson, Aaron Fuhrmann; her parents; and two brothers, Alvin and Kenneth Christensen.
