Leroy H. Lindblom

Leroy Howard Lindblom was born October 1, 1936 to Hugo and Elin (Oakstrom) Lindblom on the family farm in Lein Township, near Barrett, Minnesota. He was raised on the farm and attended the rural country school near Barrett. He then attended Elbow Lake Public High School, graduating in 1954. Following graduation LeRoy began working for the Farmer’s Coop in Elbow Lake. He married Constance Baldwin on May 3, 1958 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Barrett. The couple made their first home in Elbow Lake. In 1967 the family moved to Luverne, Minnesota where LeRoy managed the Farmer’s Union Oil Company for the next thirty-nine years. He also served as an officer of Five Star Co-op Fertilizer Company for thirty-five years. He retired from both in 2006. On Saturday, March 5, 2016 LeRoy passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage at the age of 79 years, five months and four days.

LeRoy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne and had served on the Church Council and the Property Committee. He enjoyed traveling with Connie in the convertible, old time music especially polka music, lawn care, golfing and breakfast with his buddies in the morning. LeRoy was also an instructor for the Defensive Driving Program from 2007 – 2014. He was a member of the Luverne Jaycees, Luverne Lions Club, board member of the Luverne Chamber of Commerce, member of the Tripoli Club and the Luverne Rotary Club, where he received the Paul Harris Fellow award. When he was not at work, LeRoy’s favorite activities included time spent with family, friends, and cars.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie of Luverne; two daughters, Debra Solis of Eagan, Minnesota and Dawn Lindblom (Tim Knaak) of Richfield, Minnesota; two sons, Darwin Lindblom (Dr. Jack Byers) of St. Paul, Minnesota and Darrin (Paula Stoltenberg) of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Crystal, Christianna and Nicole Solis, Grace and Josephine Lindblom, Kit and Walter Knaak; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Elin Lindblom; six brothers, Wallace, Oliver, Harold, Elmer, Robert, and Willard Lindblom; and three sisters, Gloria Aanerud, Florence Westrom, and Doris Berg.
