Leroy Olsen

LeROY DENNIS OLSEN was born May 19, 1952 in Tyler, Minnesota to Andrew and Vivian (Fuhrmann) Olsen. He attended Tyler High School, graduating in 1970. LeRoy enlisted in the U.S. Army and worked as Military Police. Following his honorable discharge, he worked in law enforcement and construction in Lincoln County. On August 1, 1980 LeRoy was united in marriage to Beth Weckert. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Matthew and Samantha, and 37 years of life together. For a short time the couple lived in Ivanhoe, MN until they moved to the family farm in 1982 to pursue his passion of farming. It was there that they raised their two children. On June 30, 2018 LeRoy passed away surrounded by family and friends at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 66.

LeRoy loved spending time on the farm and checking his fields regularly. He enjoyed going to the casino and annual trips to Las Vegas. He especially liked spending time and traveling with family. He will be remembered for his generosity and joking nature.

Survivors include his wife, Beth of Tyler; his two children, Matthew (KaSaundra) Olsen of West Fargo, ND and Samantha Olsen (John Ruud) of Chester, SD; four siblings: Dorothy (Dan) Petersen of Owatonna, MN, Roger (Pam) Olsen of Shoreview, MN, Dale (Chris) Olsen of Las Vegas, NV, and Doris Olsen (Jesus Jiminez) of Henderson, NV; Uncle Norman; aunts; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Vivian Olsen.

The family wishes to thank the support they received from family and friends during LeRoy’s six month battle with pancreatic cancer. LeRoy’s family will be directing memorials towards pancreatic cancer research.
