Lillian M. Anderson

LILLIAN MADELINE CAMILLA PLASSCHAERT ANDERSON was born July 23, 1922 to Achille B. and Virginia (Edger) Plasschaert in Tracy, MN. She attended school through the 11th grade in Tracy and then moved to Illinois to live with cousins. She later received her GED from Rock Island, IL. She was united in marriage in February of 1945 to Harry Cherry in Rock Island. Harry passed away in April of 1965. Lillian was employed in the communication field as a telephone operator for 23 years. In November of 1966, Lillian married Herman Krogman in Sheldon, IA at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Sheldon and Lillian helped Herman operate the Krogman Sanitary Service. Herman passed away in March 17, 1986. Lillian stayed for a while in Sheldon and eventually met and married Miles Rind in May of 1988 in Sanborn, IA. The couple moved to Aledo, IL and would winter in Texas. Miles died in 1994. She met and married Willis Anderson in 1995 at Lake Nebagamon and continued to winter in Texas. After Willis passed away in 1999, Lillian moved to Luverne, MN to be closer to family. On Sunday, July 17, 2016, Lillian died peacefully surrounded by family at the Parkview Manor in Ellsworth, Minnesota at the age of 93 years, 11 months and 25 days.

Lillian was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne, Minnesota. She said moving to Luverne enabled her precious time with her great-grandchildren, Jaysen, Jacob, Isabela, Tomas, David, and Elizabeth, which she truly enjoyed. Settling in Luverne also gave Lillian the opportunity to help others at the Good Samaritan Society - Mary Jane Brown Home and the Minnesota Veterans Home. Taking care of others and just sitting and visiting with people brought her such joy.

Lillian is survived by her son, Douglas (Elaine) Cherry of Larchwood, IA; grandchildren, Melissa Chicas (Alberto Soroa), of Worthington, MN, and Angela (Erik) Ensrud, of Worthington, MN, their mother, Sandy (Bob) Gardner, of Worthington, MN; six great-grandchildren; a sister, LuCille Isham, of Queen Creek, AZ; step-children, Mary Ellen (Bill) Lloyd of Fayetteville, AR, Willie (Lorry) Rind, of Sherrard, IL, Steve Rind of Zephyrhills, FL, Bruce (Paula) Rind of Zephyrhills, FL, Darren (Janet) Rind of Aledo, IL, Diane Pearson, of Sarasota, FL, Buck (Belinda) Rind of Sherrard, IL; many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren; and many other beloved family and friends. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Pauline (Paul) Billiet, Edgar (Velette) Plasschaert, Eileen (Paul) Meadows Jacks; a grandson, Jason Ray Cherry; four husbands; and step-children, June (Jack) Hurd, Preston (Dehlia) Cherry, Harry Everete (Betty) Cherry, Marj (Buck) Schwarz, Evelyn (Ron) Schilmoeller and Mike (Sheila) Rind.
