Lois Ann Lorenzen

Lois Ann Lorenzen was born to William and Louise Fredricka (Hellbusch) Kuhlmann on April 15, 1931 in Columbus, Nebraska. Lois was baptized on April 29, 1931 in Columbus, Nebraska. When she was 10 years old, she moved with her family to Hardwick, Minnesota. On April 14, 1946, she was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper, Minnesota. Lois attended school and completed her education through 12th grade at Jasper High School. Following high school, Lois moved to Luverne, Minnesota where she worked at Tri State Insurance Company. On February 20, 1949, Lois was united in marriage to LeRoy Lorenzen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper, Minnesota. For the next few years, they lived and worked on various farms in southwest Minnesota. During this time, Lois was employed from 1964-1976 at Jasper School in the library and the office. In 1988, they moved into Jasper, Minnesota. After retiring in 1991, they continued to reside in Jasper until March of 2012 when Lois moved into Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. She resided there until December 27, 2014, when she passed away at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 12 days.

Lois was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Jasper where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, attended Bible classes, helped with the Ladies Aid for many years, and was a member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was a hospice volunteer for five years. She was also involved in the Extension Club, 4-H, the Red Hat Society, and Jasper American Legion Auxiliary and many senior citizens’ events. Going to her children and grandchildren’s activities was a favorite pastime for Lois as well as playing cards, needlework and traveling south for the winter. While in Arizona, Lois was a part of the Sweet 16 Adelaines singers.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, LeRoy Lorenzen of Jasper, Minnesota; six children, Marcia Bouwman and her husband Doug of Shell Lake, Wisconsin, Connie Paulson and her husband Dave of Dassel, Minnesota, Debra Shoquist and her husband Neal of Blaine, Minnesota, Luanne Wyssmann and her husband Joe of Columbia Heights, Minnesota, Lowell Lorenzen and his wife Betsy of Pipestone, Minnesota, Wendy Buschena and her husband Jim of Fulda, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; her sister, Eunice Bartels and her husband Elmer of Luverne, Minnesota; her brother, Elmer Kuhlman of Crosslake, Minnesota; and her sister-in-law, Carol Kuhlman of Luverne, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandchild, Christine Bouwman; and her brother, Donald Kuhlman.
