LOIS ARLENE (BUFFINGTON) LORENZEN was born on October 14, 1927, to Simon and Ethel (Ripley) Buffington in Pipestone, Minnesota. She attended country school through the eighth grade at the school house five miles west of town which was built in 1880. On December 30, 1945, Lois was united in marriage to Arlin Lorenzen at the United Methodist Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Edgerton, Minnesota. While there, Lois helped on the farm and raised her family. In 1965, the family moved to Slayton, Minnesota where Lois and Arlin owned and operated the 8-Ball Recreational Center. In 1978, they moved to Middle Pine Lake near Star Prairie, Wisconsin. While they were there, she enjoyed her visits with grandchildren, feeding the birds, and gardening. In 2003, they moved back to the Pipestone area. In 2008, Arlin passed away and Lois continued to reside at their home in town. Since 2009, she had been battling reoccurring breast cancer which she had originally been diagnosed with in 1985.
