Obituary for Louise L. Kiebach

LOUISE LENA KIEBACH was born June 23, 1914 to Robert and Erene (Hagedorn) Staeffler at their home in Battle Plain Township, Rock County, Minnesota. She was baptized August 18, 1918 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Trosky, Minnesota and later confirmed on December 20, 1959 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Hardwick, Minnesota and attended country school through the eighth grade. Louise was united in marriage to Harold Kiebach on September 21, 1938 at the parsonage of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with five children and 49 years of marriage. The couple farmed and raised their family in Mound Township and later moved to Luverne. Louise was a housekeeper for various families in the area and later served as a cook for Iowa Beef Processors (IBP) for many years. After Harold began to have a decline in health, they moved to Sommerview Arms Apartments. Harold died on March 16, 1988 at which time Louise continued to live at the apartments until she reached 100 years of age. She then became a resident at Parkview Manor in Ellsworth, Minnesota. She died there peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 19, 2015 at the age of 101 years.

Louise was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minnesota. She enjoyed bowling until she was 89 years old, embroidery, bingo, playing in card clubs, and volunteer work. She recently was the Senior Citizen of the Year in Luverne, Minnesota. She especially enjoyed time spent surrounded by family, friends, love, and laughter.

Louise will be lovingly remembered by her children, Marilyn Carlson of Lake Wilson, Minnesota, Nancy (and Norman) Overgaard of Luverne, Minnesota, Dale (and Pat) Kiebach of Harrisburg, South Dakota, Joyce (and Robert) Saarloos of Norwood Young America, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Jenny Kiebach of Hardwick, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; three siblings, Alice Schmuck of Longview, Washington, Agnes Koens of Santa Maria, California, and Horton Staeffler of Gladbrook, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Arlyn Kiebach; son-in-law, Lyle Carlson; great-grandson, Aaron Aubert; five brothers and five sisters. Blessed and eternal be her memory.
