Lucille F. Walgrave

LUCILLE F. WALGRAVE was born to Thomas Feehan and Anna Mae (Bartley) Clark on June 27, 1918 in rural Rock County. She grew up in the rural Edgerton area and attended Edgerton High School graduating in 1935. Lucille was united in marriage to Arnold Walgrave on February 24, 1943 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Luverne, Minnesota. Following their marriage they made their home in rural Luverne. Lucille a farmwife, mother, and homemaker kept very busy with raising their eight children. The couple lived on the farm all of their married life. Arnold passed away on September 2, 2002. In June of 2009, Lucille became a resident of the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home in Luverne. Lucille died peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2011 surrounded by all of her children at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage at the age of 93 year, five months, and seven days.

Lucille was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Luverne, Minnesota. She was an active LCCW member and volunteered with the religious education program for over 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and took pride in her canning. Lucille loved to sew, especially the art of crocheting. She also loved to travel and during her lifetime visited 48 states. Lucille always enjoyed visiting and had a welcoming open door to family and friends that would frequent her home. Most of all, Lucille enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lucille is lovingly remembered by her eight children, Jeanne (Phil) Haller of Duluth, Minnesota, Carol Kiviranna of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rod (Judy) Walgrave of Luverne, Randy (Gayle) Walgrave of Luverne, Vance (Becky) Walgrave of Luverne, Nancy (Orlie) Friedrich of Goodhue, Minnesota, Mark (Pam) Walgrave of Luverne, and Debra Boomgaarden of Luverne; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; her parents, Finn and Anna Mae Clark; grandson, Matt Friedrich; and two brothers, Thomas Edsel and Joseph Albertus Clark.
