LUISA “DAISY” CHAVEZ was born on June 26, 1933 to Jose Tomas Chavez and Asuncion Maria (Reyes) Chavez. She was baptized at San Santiago Catholic Church in Jinotepe, Nicaragua. After completing school, she began working as a self-employed sewing contractor, a career she carried with her throughout her life. She loved and cared for her four sons and gave them a strong work ethic by involving them in her business. Her sewing became renowned and she eventually sold garments to JC Penny. Her true passion was sewing outfits for her family, from formal dresses and suits to Halloween costumes. In 2017, she moved to Pipestone, Minnesota and was cared for by her third son, Javier. On January 26, 2022, at the age of 88 years and 7 months she departed into her afterlife as afforded by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Her faith was foundational to her life and she is remembered as a spiritual, loving woman who always told the truth without judging. She firmly believed in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She also had a warm sense of humor and is remembered saying “Don’t forget to pray before you go to bed!” When she wasn’t involved in church, she loved spending time with her family. Sewing was both a hobby and livelihood for her and she used her skills to bless many in her community.
Daisy is lovingly remembered by her sons Ernesto Jose Chavez of Thousand Oaks, California, Louie Quiroz of Riverside, California, Javier "Jimmy" Chavez of Pipestone, and Alejandro Chavez of Marshall, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren, Joey Chavez, Susie Chavez, Jonathon Gonzalez, Brigette Trejo, Jasmine Chavez, Brittney Chavez, Chelsie Quiroz, Courtney Quiroz, Joshua Steven Chavez, Joshua David Chavez, Daisy Marie Chavez, Valerie Chavez, Alyssa Chavez, Adam Chavez; and 6 great-grandchildren, Linda Sue, Isaac, Elijah, Raya, and two from her first grandson Joseph Chavez; as well as may other family members throughout the United States and her native country of Nicaragua.
