LYLE JOHN OYE was born to Ernest Chris and Laura Luella (Ralfs) Oye on February 12, 1941 in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was raised on his parents’ farm in Altona Township of Pipestone County, and he graduated from high school in Verdi, Minnesota. On December 16, 1961, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Butman at Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they lived on Lyle’s parents’ farm. Two years later, they moved to Hillsboro, North Dakota where he worked for Schwan’s. In 1963, they returned to Pipestone and Lyle became a partner in the farming operation known as Cottonwood Angus Farms. In addition to farming, he worked part time for KLOH. Phyllis preceded him in death on January 9, 1994. After her death, he continued to live and work on the farm. On February 5, 1995, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Bostic Vostrejs at Scottsdale, Arizona. Following their marriage, they lived on the farm until 2000 when they moved into Pipestone. In 2007, Lyle semi-retired from farming and spent the winter months in Scottsdale where he worked part-time for Barrett Jackson Car Auctions. While in Scottsdale, Lyle entered Emcompass Rehab Center before transferring to Pipestone County Hospice House. Early in the morning of April 8, 2022, while surrounded by family, Lyle passed away peacefully at the age of 81 years, 1 month, and 27 days.
