Lyman "Lee" Brown Sr.

LYMAN EARL LEWIS BROWN, SR. was born on December 11, 1942, to Earl Franklin, Jr. and Marcella Mae (Plimpton) Brown in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Little Flower Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. He grew up in Sioux Falls and attended Washington High School. On December 15, 1959 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on December 31, 1979. In 1980, he moved to Hatton, North Dakota and worked as a Law Enforcement Officer. On March 22, 1981 he was united in marriage to Joy Lowanda (Shepherd) Brown in Mulberry, Arkansas. The couple moved to Jasper, Minnesota in 1989, and has resided there since. While living in Jasper, Lee and Joy drove truck until retiring in 2009. On Thursday, July 13, 2017, Lee died peacefully at his home in Jasper at the age of 74 years, seven months, and two days.

Lee was a member of the Oscar Iverson American Legion Post #133 in Jasper, Minnesota and a past member of the Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Masons. He enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, and watching Nascar. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

Lee is lovingly remembered by his wife, Joy, of Jasper; his daughters, Candy Pittser of Buckley, Washington, Dana (Scott) Anderson of Jasper, and Satin (David) Ewing of Burt, Iowa; his mother, Marcella Brown of Jasper, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Jake, Nichelle, Erin, Cody, Carly, MaKaylah, and Destry; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Barb (Glenn) Anderson of Ihlen, Minnesota, Marie Schwebach of Adrian, Minnesota, and Rose Mary (Bruce) Madema of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl; his sons, Ricky Lee Brown, and Lyman Brown, Jr.; daughters, Dawn Michelle Brown and Elaine Pittser; and in-laws, Burl (Gladys) Shepherd.
