Margie A. Langhout

MARGIE AGNES LANGHOUT...

was born Margie Agness Kenny in Sholes, Nebraska on April 23, 1922. She was the oldest of nine children and because she was a farm girl, all farm chores were her obligation including milking and plowing the fields the old fashion way, behind a horse. At the age of eighteen she left the farm in search of a new adventure that would take her to California and wound up meeting her new prince charming dressed in a Sailor‘s uniform. Margie and Clarence Langhout were married in Mineral Wells, Texas in 1942. They began their military carrier together and served their country until Clarence retired in October of 1968 after 33 years of service. Margie had the toughest job of the two as she was responsible for disciplining their three boys while Clarence was out to sea. Whenever Clarence was transferred to a new duty station, Margie arranged for the moving company and drove the car with small boys from one side of the U.S. to the other the other side of the country. She was also responsible for their moves to Guam and Hawaii.

Following his retirement from the Navy, Margie ran the house while Clarence began a new carrier for Loyds Insurance Company as a boiler inspector for the next fifteen years. After retiring again, Clarence and Margie purchased a motor home and traveled around the U.S. and Canada. They would caravan with several of their friends and finally began to enjoy themselves until Margie’s passing on July 3, 2001 at the age of 79 years.

Margie is survived by her three boys, Larry, Dale, Stanley; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Margie and Clarence will be laid to rest as sweethearts, side by side on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne, Minnesota.
