Marian Lorenzen

February 3, 1931 — December 28, 2018

MARIAN DOROTHY LORENZEN was born on February 3, 1931 to William and Lillian (Lauck) Kindt on the family farm in Rock County, Minnesota, where she was raised. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minnesota on March 11, 1931 and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick, Minnesota on June 24, 1945. She began her education at District #36 country school and then finished her schooling at District #56 country school through the eighth grade. Following her education, Marian worked at Etta’s Café in Luverne, Minnesota and lived above the café. On April 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to Verdeen Lorenzen at Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick. The couple made their home on a couple of acreages in Rose Dell Township, Rock County. At this time Verdeen continued to help his father on the farm. They eventually purchased their own farm and continued to farm and raise their five children. They felt blessed to live out their lives on the farm they loved. Verdeen passed away on February 18, 2003 in Bullhead City, Arizona. Marian remained on their farm, where on Friday, December 28, 2018 she passed away at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 25 days.

Marian was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. At church, she was a part of Circle, Quilting Club, and was a LWML officer. She enjoyed camping, yardwork, gardening, golfing, fishing, and playing pinochle and cribbage. For over 45 years, she and Verdeen belonged to a card club. She loved to sew, traveling south during the winter months and following sports, especially the Minnesota teams. She especially loved watching her children and grandchildren and being a part of their lives. Marian will be remembered for how much she loved to have fun, spending time with her family and friends, and her chocolate chip cookies and dill pickles.

Marian is lovingly remembered by her five children, Glenn (Dianne) Lorenzen of Jasper, Minnesota, Donna Hurst of Brooten, Minnesota, Lynette (Paul) Hanson of Sartell, Minnesota, Jim Lorenzen (friend, Cindy) of Jasper, Colette (Chuck) DeSchepper of Jasper; 12 grandchildren, Melissa (Clarence Fjellanger) Lorenzen, Sara Lorenzen, Bonnie (Shawn) Montgomery, Steven (Amanda) Hurst, Jay (Kristen) Hanson, Derek Hanson, Katie Lorenzen, Stacy (Pete) Domeyer, Jordan (Olivia) Lorenzen, Nathan (Katie) Lorenzen, Troy DeSchepper, and Karli DeSchepper; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Kindt of Hardwick; two sisters-in-law, Luella Haroldson of Jasper, and Delores Kindt of Hardwick; her card friends and church family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verdeen; parents, William and Lillian; son-in-law, Michael Hurst; great-grandchild, Kelley; and two brothers, Russell and Albert Kindt.
