MARK E. HAGEN, age 66, of Pipestone, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at his home. Mark was born on May 6, 1954, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, to Ellen C. (Haugerud) and Clinton Johnson Hagen. Mark was raised on the family farm northwest of Pelican Rapids. Mark graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1972. After graduation, he attended Minnesota State University in Moorhead, Minnesota, then Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota. Later he received a Bachelor of Science degree from South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. Mark was united in marriage to Carole Owens on April 23, 1983, at Grove Lake Lutheran Church, northwest of Pelican Rapids. They had two daughters, Christy Marie and Mary Ellen. He had numerous jobs, including West Central Turkey Plant at Pelican Rapids, Swift and Company/S.T.S. Trucking, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and Heartland Foods Inc., in Marshall.

Mark had a beautiful singing voice and shared it when he sang at funerals and weddings. Mark was an avid sports fan and knew the stats of most of the professional baseball players.

Mark is survived by his wife Carole; biological children (adopted by special aunt, Kathy Owens), Christy (Zachary) Stroud and Mary Owens; Christy’s children: Ruben, Aspen, and Arthur Stroud; brothers, David E. Hagen Sr. of Pelican Rapids, Clyde S. (Cindy) Hagen of Moorhead; sisters, Carol J. (Darrell) Odegaard of Lisbon, North Dakota, and Margaret E. Bloomgren of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Doug (Jill Raatikka) Owens of Fargo, North Dakota; sister-in-laws, Kathy Owens of Detroit Lakes, and Karin Canoy of Nampa, Idaho; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Ellen Hagen; brother Charles C. Hagen; brother-in-law Marvin Bloomgren; sister-in-law Lynne A. Hagen; and nephews, Jeffrey C. Hagen and Steven C. Hagen.

A celebration of his life will be held in the summer of 2021.

His interment will be at Grove Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery, northwest of Pelican Rapids.
