Obituary for Michael A. Hunter

MICHAEL ALLEN HUNTER was born on October 21, 1975 to Rodney Allen and Nyla Lynn (Hefti) Hunter in Canby, Minnesota. He was baptized in Silver Lake, Minnesota in 1976. As a young boy he spent a lot of time with his Grandpa Hunter, who took him to gun training and, many times, gave him a few dollars when needed for various things. Mike loved riding his bicycle, which allowed him the opportunity to tinker on it and fix it when something broke. This was maybe just the beginning of his life-long love of fixing things! Michael graduated from Pipestone High School in 1994. He worked for Northern Auto Parts in Sioux City, Iowa. He moved to Pipestone and from 2001-2004 he worked for Pepsi. From 2005 until the current time he worked at Walmart in Sioux Falls and lived in Valley Springs, South Dakota. After an accident at home, Michael died on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the age of 45 years, one month, and 20 days.

Michael was a caring person. He had a giving nature and would give the shirt off of his back if someone needed it. His kind nature and smile will be missed by many. Mike had a big heart, he loved all of his family members. He called his Grandma every morning and both he and she treasured those calls. Michael enjoyed classic cars and driving them. He liked to take road trips, he especially loved Route 66.

Michael is lovingly remembered by his mom, Nyla (Luke) Johnson of Holland, Minnesota; by his dad, Rodney (Brenda) Hunter of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; his Grandma, Hazel Saienga of Tyler, Minnesota; his brother, Gregory (friend, Jennifer) Stanton of Pipestone; sister, Patricia Hunter of Pipestone and her son, Scott (friend, Cynthia) Hunter; half-sister, Tia Kielas; aunts and uncles, Ken (Kim) Hefti, Larry Hefti, Rick Hefti, Carol Jones, and Lois Jones; step-father, Randall (friend, Tina) Stanton of Pipestone and Randy's mother, Betty Stanton; best friend, Clayton Bader; friend, Kathy Shumaker; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vance and Ida Hunter; cousin, Christine Jones; uncles, Tom Jones, Gene Jones, and Roger Moe.
