Michael B. Doeden

February 4, 1949 — October 27, 2021

MICHAEL BRUCE DOEDEN was born February 4, 1949 to Gaylord and Darlene (Hurley) Doeden in Worthington, Minnesota. He was raised on a farm southeast of Worthington. He attended and graduated from school in Round Lake, Minnesota in 1967. He farmed for a short time, working with his father. In January of 1969, Mike was drafted into the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Polk in Louisiana and AIT at Fort Eustis in Virginia, serving as a helicopter mechanic and crew chief. He returned home and joined the United States Navy, and was stationed in the Persian Gulf on the USS Parsons, which was a guided missile destroyer. He got out and then joined the United States Army Reserves. His unit was later activated during Desert Storm with the 452nd GS Company. While living life back home, Mike worked in various capacities at hog confinement operations in the Rushmore, Worthington, and Bigelow, Minnesota areas with Nasers Confinement. He later worked with Hog Slat near Sheldon, Iowa. Mike formally retired in 2016 and entered the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, Minnesota in October 2016. He later was transferred to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay, Minnesota, where on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 Michael died peacefully at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 23 days.

Mike was a member of First Baptist Church in Worthington and recently at First Baptist Church in Luverne. His life seemed to always have horses of all types a part of it. It also seemed to have motorcycles as he began with a Cushman motor scooter and ended up finishing it riding a Honda Goldwing trike, on which he put well over 10,000 miles. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, his recumbent and mountain bikes, and scuba diving. During his life he was able to dive at the Great Barrier Reef three separate times.

Mike is survived by his sister, Debra Sanns of Round Lake, Minnesota; two nephews, Chris Sanns and David Sanns; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaylord and Darlene Doeden.

Blessed be his memory!
