Milton "Poots" A. Kindt

Our Dad, Milton Alfred “Poots” Kindt, was called home to be with his Lord on Friday, September 17, 2021, while under the care of Pipestone County Hospice.

Milton was born on September 16, 1933, at home in Elmer Township, Minnesota. He was the youngest of six children born to John Nicolas Kindt and Anna Catherine (Hass) Kindt. Milton attended Pipestone County, MN Rural Schools through 8th grade. He graduated from Jasper High School in 1951.

Milton was a hard throwing and wild “southpaw” pitcher first at JHS and then for the Jasper Town Team. Milton was drafted by the Chicago Cubs farm team and spent the spring of 1952, playing baseball at minor league camps in Carthage, MO and Jaynesville, WI. He was sent home after his arm began hurting. He frequently wrote letters home to his dear Mom and she saved them all.

He returned home and married his high school sweetheart, Billie DeSart. Together they raised three children, Lynnette, Keith, and Bryce, on the farm they purchased from Billie’s grandparents, Otto and Mabel Baden, three miles south of Jasper, MN. Billie’s great Uncle, Nyle Fields, needed a place to live and Mom and Dad generously welcomed him into their home. He lived with them for twelve years. In addition to corn, soybeans and alfalfa, Dad raised cattle, hogs and chickens. A hissing gaggle of geese freely roamed the farmyard. The years on the farm hold many happy family memories.

In 1966, Mom and Dad purchased the home of Billie’s Grandmother, Mabel Baden, and moved to Jasper. They lived there comfortably for over 55 years. Their home was always open to anyone who needed a meal, just to talk or a quick game of cards. Dad and Mom were avid bridge players. Dad still played cards with good friends at the shop on the farm up until a month ago and loved every minute of it. Thank you to those faithful friends.

Milton was confirmed at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jasper, MN on May 16, 1948. Milton and Billie were members of the Jasper United Methodist Church until it closed in November of 2020. Billie went to Heaven on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2021.

Milton is survived by his daughter, Lynnette (Tim) Qualm; son, Bryce (Cherie) Kindt; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Milton was preceded in death by his wife, Billie; son, Keith; his parents, John and Anna Kindt; four sisters, Evelyn Rud , Ethel McConnell, Vernice Kindt and Delores “Toodie” Falk; his brother, Glenn; and nephews, Tim McConnell and Rodney “RJ” Falk.
