Obituary for Minnie Bosch
MINNIE BOSCH was born on October 15, 1921 to George and Elizabeth (Rodenburg) VanderSteen on a farm southwest of Valley Springs, South Dakota. The family moved to a farm southwest of Leota, Minnesota where Minnie was raised. On December 10, 1943, Minnie was united in marriage to Henry Bosch at her parents’ farm and later built their new home in Steen, Minnesota. In 1973, Minnie and Henry moved to Mitchell, South Dakota, where Minnie worked at the local hospital as the primary housekeeper for the OB department. In March 1995, Minnie and Henry moved to Luverne to rejoin their friends and relatives in this community. While in Luverne, Minnie became a caretaker to her neighbor and friend, Olga Maddison. In August 2005, Henry became ill and died on October 12, 2005 at the age of 87 years. Minnie continued living in their home until October 2017, when she moved to an apartment at the Tuff Village in Hills, Minnesota. On Saturday, February 16, 2019, Minnie died peacefully at the age of 97 years, four months and one day.
Minnie was a former member of the Reformed Church of Mitchell, where she taught Sunday School for 18 years and is currently a member of the American Reformed Church in Luverne. Her favorite hobbies were refinishing furniture, needle point, creating afghans, decorative dish towels and doilies. She also loved baking cookies, bars and pies which were greatly enjoyed by all who ate them.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Duane (Jan) Bosch of Plymouth, Minnesota, Lynette (Larry) Ford of Arlington, Texas; granddaughter, Emily Bosch of Minneapolis, Minnesota; sister, Marie Veldhuizen of Edgerton, Minnesota; and other family and friends. Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; brothers, Bill VanderSteen and Cornie VanderSteen; and sisters, Tracy Veenstra, Gertrude De Boer, Margaret Vlietstra, Betty Brouwer and Dorothy Bos.
