Morris D. Eatherton Jr.

MORRIS DOW EATHERTON,JR., was born on August 22, 1941 to Morris and Eva (Rutan) Eatherton, Sr., in Chamberlain, South Dakota. He received his education through the eighth grade. As a teenager, Morris and his brother, Ron, traveled to California to visit. Morris later met Marian Markus and on June 23, 1962, the couple was united in marriage at the Methodist Church in Culver City, California. Following marriage, they made their home in Adrian, Minnesota, where they raised their family. Morris worked briefly for Nelson Lumber Yard and then Olson and D. He then spent the next 30 years working as a fire truck pump installer for Luverne Fire Apparatus in Luverne. In 1997, Morris and Marian moved to Luverne, Minnesota. Morris continued his employment through the company’s transition to Midwest Fire, and retired in 2006. On Saturday, October 14, 2017 Morris suffered a stroke at his home. On Sunday, October 15, 2017 he died peacefully surrounded by his family at the Sanford Luverne Hospital at the age of 76 years, one month and 24 days.

Morris was a member of the United Methodist Church in Luverne. He was an avid Minnesota sports fan, especially of the Twins, Vikings and Lynx sports teams. He enjoyed reading, woodworking and spending time with his family and being outdoors.

Morris is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marian; five children, Janeen Eatherton (significant other, James Gindraw) of Richfield, Minnesota, Randy (Carla) Eatherton of Blaine, Minnesota, Roxanne (Dennis) Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Danny (Dora-Lisa) Eatherton of Elk River, Minnesota, and Suzanne Eatherton (fianc, Terrell Bellfield) of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren, Jordan (Christina), Kelsey (Ryan), Ashley, Shelby, Alex, Katrina (Kasey), Marcus, Savannah, Jaci, Jared, Gabrielle and Maya; a great-granddaughter, Malia Rose; three siblings, Ron Eatherton of Huntington Beach, California, Carol of Portland, Oregon, and Neola of Pennsylvania; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lois; a brother, Everett “Bud”; two infant siblings; in-laws, Ed and Vera Markus.
